Special Needs Blog Hop: Thanksgiving Memories

Once again, I'm going to take advantage of the one benefit of working on this crappy old computer and pull out some old pics from Thanksgiving 2006.  Audrey was 2 1/2 and we were living in California.  My in-laws were visiting, so we took the opportunity to host so that we could make them do all the work.

Audrey entertained herself for hours by transferring pistachio shells from one bowl to another.  Autism rocks!

Cousin Bianca sneaks her some contraband.

The next time that she played with shaving cream she got a rude surprise.

Can I let you have it please?

Oh yeah, that's just what this holiday needed.

  2. LOL. That reminds me of the Christmas my son found drinks left unattended and drank them. They were soda and alcohol drinks. Boy did he sleep good that night.

  9. So cute! And the transferring of items from one receptacle to another for hours on end made our very first evaluator want to shake me for not saying something sooner. Who knew? I thought that was totally normal for infants to do.

  12. She certainly has adorable going for her, and apparently has for a long time. Is it wrong that sometimes those little obsessions of autism can be used to your benefit? As a teacher I had a child obsessed with water, so he washed our dishes - total bonus!!

  13. Hey, it beats being obsessed with ceiling fans! On off on off on off...OMG!

She's adorable! She always will be!

  14. @Mommyto2 and @Bethany: Was I not supposed to let her transfer pistachio shells for 3 straight hours? Oops. In this case, the only benefit was that we got to eat and watch football in peace.

  15. 3 hours is enough time to take both a shower and a nap; I don't see the down side here.

  16. Super duper cutie-pie! I'm certain I'd appreciate the simple preoccupation side of autism too at that moment. Sure do wish mine would now.... I miss those days.

  17. Such a cutie. On the holidays, you do what you gotta do, and if that means pistachio shell sorting, so be it.
