She came home from school with a "Feelings Book" which I've excerpted below. I'll save you the math: fully 7 of the 11 entries are food related.

| I miss my mom. Probably because I'm the one with the chocolate. |

Awwww she misses you! I'm sure it's not just cuz you have the chocolate but I'd be your friend because of the chocolate too :)
ReplyDeleteI'd say she understands feelings! Peanut butter and ketchup is disgusting! Who doesn't feel happy when they eat a donut?! I felt depressed when all of the Krispy Kremes closed. I've worried, too, about not getting enough fruit in my diet. :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this post! I love her shout out to her mom, too. ;)
Hilarious, as usual. I have to say, I'm impressed. My kid is obsessed with food in exactly the same way, but I *wish* he was at the point where he could write/express himself this well.
ReplyDeleteWell, at least now you know not to have Bliss in the house. ;) That's so cool she's making associations with feelings. That is such a nebulous area...
ReplyDeleteI love how she used hearts for her O and exclamation point!
Awww. That is SO adorable! I just want to shower her with all kinds of unhealthy food :-)
ReplyDeleteShe is SO SMART! And to be honest, I get a little bit sad when I don't get a cookie too, and I don't even have the energy to dot my "I"s with little hearts when I write about it.
Seriously, I just LOVE this kid!
Hehehe... hey, at least she isn't obsessing on a blankey, or a stuffed critter. Food, she needs. ;o)
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell is Tim eating? I'm with Audrey.
ReplyDeleteAnd donuts rule.
I can relate!
ReplyDeleteUh, I think Tim needs to talk to someone about the whole ketsup/pb issue. GACK!
ReplyDeleteTo echo everyone here, how awesome to see this. Let's be honest, we all have feelings cross-wired with food. That's why we celebrate with ice cream, show love by cooking special dinners, and do whatever the hell Tim is doing with his gross-out food. :)
Yeah, I feel happy when I get a donut too!
ReplyDeleteUm. Are we sure she's not my kid? I think a DNA test is in order. See you on Maury!
ReplyDelete**awww** That's so cute how she writes with the hearts!! And yeah, what the hell is Tim doing putting ketchup on his pb?? **ewwww** Although, when I was little and we used to run out of bread, I'd put butter and jam on tortillas. My parents thought that was pretty vile... Also, not having to cook makes me *really* happy. As do Porkies (pork scratching chips type things) avec beer. **Mmmm**
ReplyDeleteI think Tim may be on to something. I've mixed peanut butter and curry (don't ask) and it was yummy. Honestly. Come on, remember what we tell our kids: "You can't say you don't like it! You haven't even tried it!"
ReplyDeleteI'm disgusted with Tim as well. However, my kid eats his peaches with ketchup, so perhaps Tim is really a culinary genious. Personally, I feel happy when nobody's grubby fingers are taking things off or putting things on my plate.
ReplyDeleteI would be disgusted with that ketchup thing, too. And loving the heart letters! True girl...ha. Poor Grace Ann...I got a crier, too.
ReplyDeleteThis made me giggle a little...I pretty much have food on the brain all the time, too. ; )
ReplyDeleteI'm happy too when I have a cookie in my napkin. I'm REALLY happy when I have TWO cookies in my napkin.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely ecstatic when I have two cookies, a marshmallow AND a donut in my napkin.
Her feelings are perfectly justified.
Who is Tim and what is WRONG with him ? Blach!! No wonder Grace Anne is crying.
ReplyDeleteawww I love the last one :)
ReplyDeleteand I love the hearts she used too :)
I think she definitely understands the meaning of disgusted. Ketchup and peanut butter? Nasty! I love how sweets influence her emotions - they influence me too. I feel much, much better if I have a cookie in my napkin.
ReplyDeleteI think you're not feeding your poor, starved, ill nurished child! Does she also ask/beg for food all day? My kids food budget is going to require me to get a second job!
ReplyDeleteI feel disgusted just thinking about Tim and the peanut butter.
ReplyDeleteI am with her on Tim and his revolting combination of peanut butter and ketchup. She clearly is getting the idea of feelings, and associating them with the most rewarding things to her. And awesome that it makes her sad to be in the same room with her friend when she is sad - shared emotions?
ReplyDeleteSeriously, Tim is disgusting! Pink texta rules. Raisins fill me with anxiety. I leave the room when people are crying and don't get me started on how happy shit food makes me! Maybe I should check that DSM IV for my very own diagnosis!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE AUDREY!
ReplyDeleteI'm with everyone else who's questioning ketchup/pb thing, but then Julia dips her tortilla chips in applesauce, and her grapes in ketchup, so....yeah...maybe I should stop here.
Audrey sure is a sweetie! She misses her Mommy. :-)
that's awesome. and I want a t-shirt that says I'm silly when my cookie is in my napkin.
ReplyDeleteMy feelings are very similar to Audrey's. I'm happy when I have a cookie!
ReplyDeleteI just stopped by from SITS to say hi; hope you have time to do the same.
I think we're all pretty unanimously disgusted by Tim and the ketchup and pb. Worried about the raisins because maybe they aid in the digestion process?
ReplyDeleteI feel silly thinking about what "cookie in my naokin" must really stand for. Because a cookie in a napkin isn't really silly. Or is it?
ReplyDeleteI understand the donuts..but not the raisins..I don't understand raisin ennui-I loathe raisins..natures candy my ass.. Why is Grace Anne crying? Is it because of Tim? I'd want my mom too...and a donut.
ReplyDeleteI use a very similar check-in in my classroom! I love your examples. She's a rockstar.
ReplyDeleteWow I wish my 10th old could tell me that! My 3yr old can tell me she is sad or mad but we normally have to guess at why! And I miss my mommy to and it is because she is the keeper of all the treats lol!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a feelings diary for young children -- but it sounds like a wonderful idea. Even if your daughter's feelings are fixated around food (so cute!). Thanks for sharing her adorable handwritten notes. (Also, I'm stopping by from SITS and want to say congratulations on being featured!)
