My Little Pony Is Ruining My Life

Me:  "How are you?"

Audrey:  "I'm having a positively pink day!"

Me:  "Awesome.  How was school today?"

Audrey:  "Why would Sweetie Belle invite us over if she isn't even home?  Look!  A note!"

Me:  "What?  We have to leave for Miss Irine's in a couple of minutes.  Are you ready for your piano lesson?"

Audrey:  "Nopey dopey!"

Me:  "Do you want to go to Target afterwards?"

Audrey:  "Cool beans!  Would you like to plan a party with me?"

Me:  "Yeah, we should start planning your birthday party."

Audrey:  "Holy guacamole!  Beep beep beep.  Oops, I have another call.  Talk again later.  Hi!  It's me Sweetie Belle!  Do you want to hear a joke?  Knock knock.  Orange.  Orange you glad I called?"

Me:  "Is that from that stupid pony phone?"

Audrey:  "You're super funny.  I simply adore all the colors of the rainbow."

Me:  "Again with the ponies.  Which pony are you today?"

Audrey:  "Rainbow Dash speaking!"

As if this dialog isn't disturbing enough, most all of the lines are punctuated by a maniacal pony laugh....

Still think the title of this post is hyperbole?

  2. This is hilarious. At the moment I hate Max and Ruby but now I realize it could be worse. My Little Pony is way too perky.

  3. That would be so annoying. I feel like I should send you flowers or chocolate or something out of sympathy/empathy.

  4. That's so funny. My Aspie answers me in cartoon phrases when he does not want to face up and give me a real answer. The real answer is in there I just have to decipher it.

  5. hehehe... I can totally relate! Love reading mom and child dialogue...

Visiting from SITS, make it a great day!

  6. laughing here. I think she has that giggle perfect. It sounds just like the show. My 3yr old watches pony shows on the HUB.com that and happynappers.com

    audrey is so cute

  7. I love this post! Great conversation between you two!

  8. Aww...you daughter is POSITIVELY ADORABLE! But, yeah, the ponies must go.

  9. We recently had to CONSIDERABLY cut back on my son's TV time. We figured full NickJr. dialogues probably weren't the best way for him to communicate...

But I think I'd rather have Yo Gabba Gabba than My Little Pony!

  10. She is so darn cute!!!!!!!!!! Tommy was stuck on BRUM for a LONG time.. oh BRUM.. i hated Brum. LOTs!

  11. Makes me want to fling glitter!

  12. Would love to get Audrey together with my little guy. She could talk about her positively pink day while my son asked her to feed his boulders (yes boulders) some milk and apple juice...

Boulders, pink ponies - good in moderation, not good in excess! :)

  13. The laugh is killing me. It is now stuck in my head. : )

  14. I think her little voice is so cute and the laugh hilarious! It could be worse. She could be scripting Barney at which you would want to stick something very sharp in your eye.

  15. Ugh! Now I am having a positively pink day too!! That girl is too cute.

  16. Ok, I would hardly call that laugh "maniacal". It's entirely too cute. As is Audrey. Sorry about the Pony scripting.

Coleman used to script Thomas the Train. Hated it!

  17. I think we could all ban together and design a line of toys for our cuties. The voices can be soft and reassuring. And use words like, "beautiful Mommy; what a delicious bowl of vegetables; please shampoo my hair; and, I promise not to be naked when people come over". It's a bit Stepford, but might help us all feel a little less like pooping rainbows.

  18. Audrey is adorable but the ponies must go. You know those horrible things have a show???

  19. Stopping by from SITS. This is great. I love kids' imaginations. My little 3yo is currently requesting we call her Jake the pirate.

  20. Hey, Kara, I think that's a fantastic idea! :) We could go on the ABC show Shark Tank and give them our proposal, with all the orders from spectrum families!

I hear your pain. Been there in a different cartoon!

  21. Oh yeah. That little giggle? it's cute the first time, but I'm sure it drives you crazy after the 35th time.
Still, I could watch videos of Audrey all day long :)

  22. OOOF! She might have gotten that little MLP obsession from Grace Anne? So welcome to my nopie-dopie, yeppie-deppie, okee-fricken-dokie world!

  23. Just keep repeating to yourself...this too shall pass.

  24. Thank goddess I have a boy. I'll take pee on the toilet seat over all that pony-perkiness any day.

    Audrey is completely adorable.

  25. I think Kara is right. I would sell them in my store! Make recordable sound chips so you could have them say what you want. We would need a train one, a dino one, a robot one, and of course a positively pink pony one...

  26. Jeez Louise.... If I touch Louis unexpectedly, he whips around and hisses "Watch mine paintwork"....yup it is still mostly Thomas around here. He has added an under sea show and now calls me a "scurvy dog" when ired. My boy is learning flexibility!!

  27. That girl has an incredible memory. And this reminds me a lot of when my little sister spent a few weeks talking in Care Bear back in the 80's.

  28. I think I'd be able to stand it for a while if it wasn't for that giggle. EEEK!

Audrey is adorable as always! I love seeing her videos. : )

  29. I see how that might be even more grating than nonstop Yo Gabba Gabba songs. Ah, the joys of scripting. Really, though, she's pretty cute.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Lucky. Can't wait until "Elmo has a question. FOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR YOU! Yeah You!" comes back. Stupid scripts.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I bet this was cute the first time. Maybe even the second.

    Have a rainbow day!

    ReplyDelete
  32. OMG! How awful! My daughter has one damn My Little Pony DVD. It makes me want to vomit when we watch it.

Thank g_d she doesn't go around scripting it like Audrey does. You're Catholic. Can you bring a priest in to do an exorcism?

    Just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Audrey is still absolutely adorable, but I am sure by the end of the day that is enough to make you want to serve her horse meat for dinner. What is a positively pink day - a day spent outside without sunscreen?

    ReplyDelete
  34. LMAO. Wow. Cute for us, but annoying after an hour, day or week I am sure. KARA! You are BRILLIANT. We can market a TV show after it too! Think of the lovely things they would say about us!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I love Audrey videos, they're my fave :)

  36. A positively pink day sounds delightful.

  37. Boy, can I relate! Just yesterday, my son knocked over a lamp by accident and then asked if I was mad. I thought, "Wow, he's being so perceptive. This is awesome!" until I realized he was quoting a movie. So much of what he says is quoted from movies...

    ReplyDelete
  38. Ah yes, MLP, they sometimes rule life here, too. I think we have 5 Rainbow Dash ponies, and when I suggest we give one to a friend, watch out!

    ReplyDelete
  39. See blog posts like this make me think that arranged marriages aren't all bad. You're kid and my kid. Seriously. They are a match made in annoying voices from cartoons heaven.

  40. I totally HATE when I post something and look back and think 'dear lord this woman is going to think i'm an idiot!' I mean YOUR not YOU'RE, don't judge me, I drink too much wine....

    ReplyDelete
  41. I hate the freakin ponies. Really I do. I think we should start a support group.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Wow. It is REALLY weird watching another child verbally stim.

    ReplyDelete
  43. My roommate and I quote My Little Pony. Extensively. We're both college freshman, 18 and 19 years old.

    Don't diss the ponies.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I hate pink and now even I'm having a positively pink day!! OMG, how cute is your daughter?!?! She KILLS me!! Really loving the videos!!

    ReplyDelete
  45. At least it's not the nasty NEW "My Little Ponies," the ones that are all eyes and ugly as sin.

    Right?

    ReplyDelete
  46. That conversation is SO much like the ones I have with my 7-year old son! I should really start transcribing them too. They are so much funnier reading them than experiencing them!
