Christmas in June

I caught Audrey singing in the shower..well, bath anyway.  She loves to belt her some Christmas carols, even in June.

She started out with "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing".  Our little friend Billy, whose wonderful mom Amanda blogs over at Life Is a Spectrum, sings this particular carol as Mark the Feral Danger King!, which is admittedly pretty hard to top.

But I think Audrey gives him a run for his money with her re-imagined lyrics, which are little bit "O Holy Night" and little bit of...duck-on-duck cannibalism?

I will sing the holy ni-ight
I will sing the holy night
The duck bread will eat the mama
And the daddy duck will have some

You will have to turn your volume way up because I was getting these on the DL...

Here's the real "O Holy Night", proving that no one really knows the lyrics between "the stars were brightly shining..." and "...fall on your knees", or can hit any of the high notes...

Merry...Flag Day?  Only 204 days til Christmas!

And the daddy duck will have some."

  5. What is it with the kids butchering all the Xmas tunes? My kid used to sing "I eat smelly bugs" when he was trying to sing "Feliz Navidad." Cripes, good thing our hispanic neighbors didn't hear him.

We could get all these kids together and have the holiday pageant from hell. Huh, huh? I'd buy tickets to that.

  7. Oh, love it! I love the word approximations. For the eldest, when she was little, it was from Mary Poppins. "All along the cathedral, the saints and apostles..." was changed to, "All along the cathedral mistakes and oppossums..." Hee hee...we still tease her about it.

  9. @Flannery: Really? You couldn't have gotten 400 words out of "I eat smelly bugs"? Your comment alone is like 60 words right there. *Robert DeNiro Move pointing at my eyes pointing at your eyes*

  10. We read How The Grinch Stole Christmas at bedtime last night.

That damn duck bread is out to get all of us.

And I'm really glad I'm not Flannery right now.

  12. Do all the ASD kids have some sort of secret communication, in which they decide that June is a good time to start singing Christmas Carols? I have suffered through the "Kids Bop Christmas CD" every night for the last week....*tear*

  13. :) Hey it is only 87 days till school starts up again..(we still have a week and a half left here) I absolutely adore her lyrics..When I was little, I thought "Oh Tannenbaum" was "Oh Cannon bomb" which gave me a totally different take on the holiday...

  14. I love her little voice!

Ben is obsessed with Christmas. I have to hear Up on The Housetop year.round. Jingle Bells (the real one and the Batman one), etc. K just likes to make up her own song, which usually ALL have a chorus of EVERYDAY, EVERYDAY, EVERYDAY. haha.
