The Teacher's Got Us Fawin' in Wuv Again

Whenever Audrey sings a song, I can't help but think of Eddie Murphy as Buckwheat singing "Meech out and dutch dumbody's and bake dis murla bedda pace, ip doo tan".

Her vocabulary isn't always wide enough to decipher song lyrics, such as these for "DJ Got Us Falling in Love".  She doesn't know what a DJ is, so she's either saying "teacher" or more likely "TJ" which is the name of both a former classmate and one of Lauren's cats.

This was taken while she sat in the back seat of a car in between her two cousins.  She keeps looking at them in a way that could say "And just what the hell are you looking at?" or "Stop hatin' on my mad steez" or "Don't leave me hanging out here by myself...start singing bitches!"  One of those.

Stay tuned for her attempt at a head bob at the end...

  2. I love how you're totally giggling in the background! That's way better than the Kung Fu Fighting my kids are singing right now!!

  3. Audrey's got talent! Wish I could drum up a few of the funny mistaken lyrics Matthew has come up with in the past. I guess we should count our blessings that they don't know the real words to these songs. Then there'd be hell to pay not to mention lots of questions which I for one, do NOT want to answer!!!
    Rock on Audrey!

  4. That was no Kidz Bop rendition! That was the real deal!

She seems very placid compared to my daughter, Lily (5). Has she always been fairly low-key? Not lots of movement or flailing of limbs or gnashing of teeth?

  5. Thanks so much for posting this and making my day. Cute stuff!

As far as what Audrey's thinking, I'm gonna go with "What the hell are you looking at?"

  7. Audrey has got mad skillz! TJ should be honored to be immortalized in song by her :) She is so adorable, and the head bop at the end was classic!! I think she was checking to make sure her cousing were not stepping on her territory while she was center stage.

  8. @Jim: No, she flails around plenty. I think it was just her being strapped into a car seat in between her two teenage cousins. She's a jumper and a flapper...sometimes music soothes her, but if she wasn't strapped in the car I think she'd be getting down pretty good to that Usher song.

  10. I like that you're not actually listening to the Kids Bop version of the song. We have one Kids Bop CD, and I like to pretend like it's "lost" or "in the house right now" when we're out driving and someone requests it. What's wrong with my kids singing about getting drunk and partying when we listen to Ke$ha anyhow? Totally appropriate.
